Mila Kovačević, MD, PhD, FESC is an interventional cardiologist at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases of Vojvodina, Sremska Kamenica, Serbia, where she has been employed since 2006, and an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Novi Sad. She completed her medical education, specialist training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, and doctoral studies at the University of Novi Sad, earning her PhD in 2019.
She has over 15 years of experience in interventional cardiology, with expertise in the treatment of acute coronary syndromes, complex percutaneous coronary interventions, and structural heart disease. Her practice includes advanced coronary interventions, including left main disease, supported by contemporary invasive diagnostic techniques and intravascular imaging, as well as structural heart procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation, patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defect closure, and left atrial appendage occlusion.
She was awarded a prestigious 1-year EAPCI Training Grant and completed advanced training in structural heart disease and complex PCI at Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS in Rome. Dr. Kovačević has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading international cardiovascular journals and is actively involved in multicenter clinical trials and registries. She is a member of the EAPCI Gender and Disparities Committee (2024-2026), reflecting her commitment to excellence, equity, and collaborative advancement in interventional cardiology.
