Mauro Carlino is a world-renowned pioneer and key opinion leader in the field of chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary intervention (CTO PCI). To date, he has performed more than 2,000 CTO PCI procedures as first operator. He has authored over 240 peer-reviewed publications in interventional cardiology, ranging from personal case series to the description of original techniques that the international community has subsequently adopted. Dr Carlino has been an active contributor to numerous global consensus conferences within the CTO community and has played a pivotal role in the development and dissemination of innovative procedural strategies. He is widely recognized for the “Carlino technique”, which has become an integral component of the CTO Hybrid Algorithm, currently utilized by hundreds of operators worldwide.

Recently, he introduced the HydroDynamic Contrast Recanalization (HDR) technique, a novel approach that has rapidly gained substantial international interest and further consolidated his reputation as one of the leading innovators in the field of CTO PCI.
